Anushka Sharma, in addition to her modeling career, attended an acting school, and began auditioning for film roles. Anushka Sharma made her film debut in 2008 with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan. In order to get ready for the test on screen, she stayed up all day. After that, she was contracted for three films under the Yash Raj Films banner. She was the young wife of an older man in the film (the same role that Shah Rukh Khan played). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka was in a movie named Band Baaja Baaraat, starring Ranveer in which she portrayed the role of a middle class, who establishes her wedding planning company. The movie received a great reception and was later a sleeper. Anushka completed her three-film deal together with Yash Raj Films after Band Baaja Baaraat.
